<post_content_short>
The 2023 Tom Stannage Memorial Lecture By Dr Shauna Bostock.

Dr Shauna Bostock is an Aboriginal woman whose family descend from Bundjalung Country, in the Northern Rivers region of Northern New
South Wales. Her family members knew that the Bostock name came from a non-Indigenous settler, Augustus John Bostock, who married an
Aboriginal woman in the 1800s, but there were huge gaps in family history knowledge from the present to the past. Shauna was immediately
struck with a burning curiosity to find out more.

The Tom Stannage Memorial Lecture commemorates
the exceptional contribution made by Professor Tom Stannage (1944-2012) to the Western Australian community. Professor Stannage was a
prominent Australian historian who worked hard to foster a wider understanding of Western Australian history and heritage. He is remembered as an inspiring teacher and a passionate advocate for the study of history.
<post_title>Roman Archaeological Group Meeting and Professional Learning Event</post_title>
<post_content_short>Dear RAG Members and Friends of RAG,

A reminder that the next RAG meeting will take place on the 27th of November, in the Alexander
	Lecture Theatre at UWA,
starting 1:30. The programme for the day, which includes our AGM, is as follows:

1.30 - 2.10 pm

What’s new in Roman Britain

David Kennedy

Although Britannia lasted less than four centuries and was far less-romanized than neighbouring provinces across the Channel, it regularly reveals impressive evidence from excavation, survey and chance finds, all of which are reported systematically every year.

2.10 - 2.30

AGM

2.30 - 3.00 pm

Tea Break (free tea and coffee)

3.00 - 4.00 pm

Arabio, Bocchus and Bogud: mapping the fortunes of local forces in Africa 47-41 BCE

Martin Drum

Like many African leaders in the ancient world, Arabio, Bocchus and Bogud are known to us only through Greek and Roman sources. This
talk will focus on their fortunes during Rome’s civil war period, and how their decisions impacted on the fate of Roman commanders in their
part of the world.

For RAG members, please find attached a copy of the minutes from last year’s AGM

Best wishes,

Chris Mallan (as RAG secretary)
<post_content_short>The material on the link below could be very useful for teachers picking up Egyptian for the first time, either at lower school level
or at General level. The Egypt Exploration Society is quite amazing and well worth joining -- especially now that they are offering
courses at beginner level and if you are a member you are normally offered a 50% discount.

During each online course they run they put up Youtube copies of the presentations on a secure website so that there really is no need to
get out of bed at 2 am or thereabouts to take part in the live sessions unless of course, you want to be part of the online chat
community. They usually keep the presentations on Youtube for about 3 - 4 weeks after the courses before taking them down.

These people are working Egyptologists of various ilk and most certainly know what they are talking about. They are experts in their
fields. Click on the link for all details!
